I’m a student researcher and freelance writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I research the intersection of AI, formal methods, and law. I’m advised by Yale professors Ruzica Piskac and Scott Shapiro. I started writing for The Hill in 2025 on electoral politics, and my columns there have been featured by RealClearPolitics. I’m a founding editor of Vantage, a new online magazine for emerging writers. My work has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, The Daily Wire, The Nation, UnHerd, Jacobin, The Washington Monthly and elsewhere. I work with political campaigns including Connie Chan for Congress. I tweet from @williamliang, and you can contact me at this email address.
